Iceland is definitely a paradise for lovers nature photographers, the land of fire and ice offers scenery breathtaking. However, some photogenic locations are difficult to access without a good knowledge of the terrain, changing weather conditions require learning to shoot and manage emergency light in order to capture the magic moment!

In winter, all the conditions are met to make magical images ... Our challenge will be to take you to the right places at the right time.

ALBAN HENDERYCKX - TRAINNER PHOTOGRAPHER & TOURS LEADER at "THE WILD CHILD - PHOTO WORKSHOPS", offers a photo-workshops oriented capture the iconic winter sceneries. Period is pretty good for aurora activity and ice caves are just opening their doors. Lunar cycle will reveal subtle details of nightscapes looks like from another world. Each single day we will be focus on twilight (sunrise / sunset) and also approach shooting day favoring the use of neutral density filters in order to properly expose our scenes or create long exposures. Deep into the heart of a volcanic and mountainous landscape, we'll discover the Snaefellsnes peninsula covered with its white blanket, geysers and other marvels of the Golden Circle, the coast south and its waterfalls covered cathedrals of ice, glaciers, glacial lakes and lagoons at hand.

The trip includes nights guesthouse, breakfast and transport mini-bus 4x4.

Duration : 10 days / 9 nights - Price : 3400 € or 3900 $ - Limited to 6 people.


★ Itinerary ★

Day 1 : Reykjavik / Meeting / Welcome Dinner

After your arrival at Keflavik airport, shuttle will bring you to your hotel at Reykjavik Downtown. Then we will meet early evening to enjoy welcome dinner and discuss all together.

Days 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 : Snaefellsnes peninsula / Golden Circle / Thingvellir National Park​

Today starts our adventure and we will drive towards the Snaefellsnes peninsula where we spend the night in a cottage at the foot of famous Kirkjufell. Program of the day, sunset at Kirkufell, dinner in a local restaurant and then we will go hunting Northern Lights. The next day, we will go photograph the other part of the peninsula and its many photogenic places. Day 4 we will leave capturing the wonders of the Golden Circle where we spend the night in a guesthouse a few steps from Lake Thingvellir.




Days 5 / 6 / 7 : Kvernufoss / Skogafoss / Dyrholaye / Vik / Skaftafell / Jokulsarlon

After breakfast, the day begins with a sunrise session at the geothermal area of Geysir. Then we head towards the south coast for a meeting "slow exposure" at the famous Skogafoss. In passing, we take a well-deserved lunch in a restaurant facing Skogafoss. After lunch, head for Kvernufoss a beautiful secret waterfall in the heart of a volcanic valley. A favorite place!

Then we continue our journey along the south coast, this time to the famous cliffs and beaches of Vik and Dyrholaye with the menu : Sunset shooting of Reynisdrangar and lava columns sculpted by the sea. Night at Vik.

Early in the morning, we will take a picture of the sunrise on the black sand beache Reynisfjara and its famous volcanic sea stacks.

We start this time in beautiful park Skaftafell entangled by glacial tongues of Vatnajökull glacier. Stop on the way to have lunch at a nice restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will go to the Svinafellsjökull Glacier and its glacial lake full of icebergs, located at the foot of Iceland's highest mountain, Hvannadalshnjúkur, to capture the sunset until blue hour.
Then we will go to our next accomodation where we will spend the next 3 nights just a stone's throw from the lagoon glacier, Jokulsarlon.
After dinner, we will go to the lagoon to try to capture the aurora if the weather permits.




Days 7 / 8 / 9 : Vatnajokull Glacier / Jokulsarlon Lagoon & Beach / Breidarlon Lake / Hofn

We'll start the day early so we get to Jokulsarlon for sunrise. At twilight menu breakfast, lights, Vatnajokull glacier lagoon and black sand beaches dotted with icebergs. Post-treatment and lunch break in a museum restaurant in the area. In the late afternoon we return to Jokulsarlon and we stay the night to capture the sunset and the aurora borealis.
The next morning, we start with a gentle sunrise glacial lake Breiðárlón. There is a calm water or icebergs are frozen almost at our feet, just a few meters from the beautiful mountains encased in ice.
We will try to explore the ice caves during these 3 days around the glacier (only if the weather allows us accessibility).
We had lunch and then we take Road Höfn, littered with a succession of magnificent glaciers. Horn and we're going up for a sunset session and northlights. Back to our accommodation for dinner and have a good night trying toshoot NL again.




Days 9 & 10 : Some pictures along the south coast on the way back to Reykjavik / Good bye Dinner

​Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. After breakfast, we take the road with the city of Reykjavik as the end point for the early evening. The last day will be distributed along the south coast with some pictures and local meal times.

This is the time to discover and photograph the missed some other atmospheres and compositions on places already visited or missed.
There is a choice between the surroundings of Jokusarlon, Skaftafell park or Vik. Be chosen according to the desires of each of the timing, the weather conditions and light. Drop off at your hotel at Reykjavik late afternoon, early evening we will enjoy good bye dinner.

Night well deserved at your hotel and departure.

★ Good to know ★

● It is very important to us that you are real nature lovers to participate in this trip.

● To participate in this trip you must have or purchase travel insurance, must be healthy, you must have warm clothing and waterproof hiking to evolve in nature with peace of mind.

● You need an SLR camera, tripod, a rain cover for your camera and several batteries and memory cards.
If you can take a wide angle, remote control and neutral density filters goal is even better.
I have the opportunity to lend free materials Filters, filter holder, tripod ect .. (wherever possible).

● You will get editing lectures when we will be at our accommodation.
I would put a provision a MacBookPro. If you can bring your computer, it's even better.

For information, all my images are processed with Lightroom software and Photoshop for finishing.
Thanks to the mastery of neutral gray filter technique, you will be able either to correctly expose your images by capturing a single shot and save time at editing, or be able to play and create atmospheres out of time.

★ Reservation ★

A deposit of 30% of the total tour price is required at time of booking.
The remaining 70% will be paid no later than 2 months before departure.
